Rudy Bien-Aime kicked a 41-yard field off the muddy Curtis Park field with 3:17 to play to give Edison a 9-7 win over North Miami Beach before 1,000 rain-soaked fans.

Bien-Aime had missed his three previous field-goal attempts before this game, but Edison coach Corey Bell said he had the confidence to let him kick with the game on the line.

''There was a lot going on in my mind because Coach never let me a kick a 41-yard field goal before,'' Bien-Aime said. ``I am glad Coach had the confidence in me. Everything was perfect on the kick.''

North Miami Beach (3-1) cracked the scoreboard on its first possession of the game when E.J. Biggers connected with Schnieder Julien for a 14-yard touchdown pass.

Edison (3-1) came back with a touchdown pass of its own in the second quarter on a 42-yard bomb from Tino Edgecomb to Jackie Chambers, but Bien-Aime could not try the extra-point kick because of a bad snap.

After the Chargers' first score, Edison's defense shut the NMB attack down behind the play of defensive tackle Richard Clebert.

The weather played a major role throughout the game. causing numerous balls to be fumbled and dropped. The footing was also very poor, causing players to slip.

A fumble recovery by Edison's Jarell Guyton at the NMB 25-yard line led to Bien-Aime's heroics.

''We tell the kids that we need to play well in all phases of the game, and tonight Bien-Aime pulled through for us,'' Bell said.
